I'm in Love....

I've been so excited about my house all weekend, I can't wait to sign the contract and obtain the keys. I found it yesterday. I wish I had pictures, but I won't get back to it for a few days, and I really want to tell everyone about it right now. It's...maybe a little extravagent, but it's what I wanted. I knew the second I walked in and I was going to fight for it. I was looking at it with another couple and I could tell they wanted it. My advantage was that I had the contract in hand ready to sign. They hadn't really looked at anything else. So, now that I'm the mean person that snatched it up from the couple, who I'm sure was very nice, I get to talk about it.

It's actually a duplex out on the outskirts of the village, Obernheim-Kirchenarnbach. It's 10km to the hopsital on country roads. It would be a lovely bike ride during better weather. It's a very new duplex. There was only one previous tenant. The compromise for living on the outskirts of town was that I sacrificed living in a place with old-world charm for modern economy. It's stucco exterior of a yellow-orange nature. I do not have a carport, which is a little bit of a bummer because the weather out here is harsh, but I do have a gravel drive on the side of the house so I dont' have to park on the street and leave my car to the mercy of other drivers. Brick steps lead up to an attractive front door. When you walk in you are in a front entry, to the left is the very nice guest WC and ahead is the front door to the rest of the house. The whole place is off-white walls, light wood laminate flooring, and attractive lighting fixtures. The downstairs is very open. When you first walk in, you are looking at the open living/dinning. To the right I believe is the laundry room where my washer/dryer will go when I get them from the Army. On the left, the spiral stair case with royal blue railings. It goes downstairs to the utilities and a small storage room as well as outside to the backyard. Back on the first floor, the kitchen is to the right. it's a small kitchen, but it's also BLUE! The cabinets are blue and the fixtures are stainless steel. I also have a small dishwasher, a very rare and exciting feature to have over here. Upstairs there are 3 small bedrooms (there are no closets here so my clothes have to go in one of them), the full bath (way cute), and the ladder that leads up to my attic studio. The back yard is a little rustic, but it is big. It extends half-way up the hillside that is my view. I am allowed to have small pets and once I settle in, I am going to adopt kitties. I'm in love.

After filling out my contract, Sara, Julie, and I went to Mobel Martin. Talk about a big furniture store. It reminds me of a delux Ikea. It has a lot of amazing stuff, but it's pricey. I got some very good ideas for things to do, and I have some furniture I've got my eyes on for when I save up a little money... however, I will be on a very strict budget for awhile, at least until I sort my finances and figure out what living here is actually going to cost me.

I promise, as soon as I get back to my house, I'm taking pictures and posting them!
